You won’t believe us if we tell you that using wine to relax can actually increase anxiety and stress. Yes, you read it right and we do have a proper explanation to this theory. It’s simple to understand that problem drinking or drinking in order to relieve the stress leads to alcohol withdrawal which is also known as “hangover”. This hangover then comes with several symptoms that are not at all healthy for us human beings. One of the most common symptom of a hangover is anxiety and then there is nausea, panic attack, agitation and increased body temperature and all of this combines together and results in an increased anxiety issue and it also increases problem drinking.
What Should Be Done?
People need to understand the fact that almost everyone in this world is suffering through problems and dealing with stress. Even teenagers are going through anxiety and stress nowadays but that doesn’t mean that they are allowed to consume alcohol just to deal with it and relax themselves. It’s a wrong concept and we are surely delivering a wrong message to all the other people in the world specially our children. Instead of promoting wine and alcoholism, we need to introduce different methods, therapies and exercises to deal with anxiety.
Let’s take it this way, if your child is going through anxiety issues and if he wants to relax then are you going to hand him over a glass of wine or are you going to talk to him, take him to a therapist or try to make him relax by certain gestures? It’s all about common sense and logic that a glass of alcohol or even a whole bottle can’t do any good to you and your body. It will just kick you out of your senses for a while and that’s it, there is no other benefit of consuming wine until you want to make it an excuse and drink it.
Remember that the change begins from you and you have to prove a lot of people out there that they are wrong about wine and its use for relaxation purposes. There is no doubt in the fact that some researches out there state that having a glass of wine can help you chill but again, it’s not an healthy option and especially when you have so much more that you can do to relax yourself, why choose something that is pretty destructive in nature?
